Egalitarian

7 Core Elements of Democracy

Element Description:

A democracy depends on people having equal opportunities to participate in politics, regardless of race, background, socioeconomic status, or perspective. However, differences in wealth, education, and access to healthcare can make it harder for some people to participate fully in political life. When these inequalities limit political participation, they can weaken democracy.

This is why a strong democracy is egalitarian. It works to ensure that people have equal access to opportunities to participate in political life.
