Participatory

7 Core Elements of Democracy

Element Description:

Democracy works best when everyone wants to participate. Citizens can participate by voting, attending public discussions and meetings, contacting elected officials, joining organizations, and engaging in protests and demonstrations. These activities and acts of civic engagement allow people to express their opinions, raise concerns, and influence decisions made by their government.

When more people participate, a wider range of perspectives can be represented in the political process.
